Plantema memorial lecture
This year’s Plantema Memorial Lecture will be delivered by Professor Simon Andrew Barter PSM. Professor Barter is an RMIT Professor of Aerospace Engineering and the DSTG-RMIT Joint Chair and Director of the Centre for Advanced Defence Structures and Materials Experimentation. Professor Barter is a recognised international expert in the fields of aircraft structural integrity, aircraft accident investigation and failure analysis with a 47 year career spanning Defence, academia and consulting. He holds diplomas in applied science, surface finishing and corrosion, scientific leadership and a PhD in Engineering Science from Monash University. Professor Barter has over 300 scientific and engineering publications and in 2015 was awarded the Public Service Medal for outstanding service to aircraft structural integrity investigation and safety, in particular the field of metal fatigue in military aircraft.
The ceremony will be held on Monday the 9th of June, after the ICAF 2025 conference opening.
